VEGAS SCENE REPORT
10/16/05

THE END OF ALL THAT IS…

Revelation Records noisiest band ever will make no more noise.  RIP Curl Up and Die.
"After almost 7 years of being a band we have decided to call it quits. We want to say to everyone who has ever supported us in any way; thank you, this has truly been an amazing experience." - Mike Minnick, Curl Up And Die

With death comes new life.  Worker Bee’s will begin to promote shows on the weekends at the Emergency Room (Spring Mountain/Decatur).  Sorry kiddies, this is yet another 21+ venue.

Kudos to Kid Deposit Triumph who’ve just released their debut full length.  Could they be next outta Vegas?

Rumor has it that Fiddler Records is going belly up or reconstructing or something.  The Higher is the latest to receive the axe or walk away from the mixed blessing.

It’s been 3 months, and still nobody likes your band…you should give up.

Local kids Magna-fi, Big B, Sweetest Infection, the Ill Figures, and more are all on the soundtrack to the new Baja Racing video BajaFlo.  Log on to www.bajaflo.com for the trailer on that one.

Patrick aka Pulsar aka the kid some of you still refer to as Jack Osbourne, is promoting shows at the Rock and Java.  He’s been to every show you’ve ever played or seen…support one of his for once!

The Alley has been doing a series of shows as of late.  They’re located behind Family Music and they’ve got a myspace page.  Track em down.  Tell em Smash Magazine thinks you outta be friends.

The Day After have finished recording their new record.  Check out the new stuff at www.thedayafter.us

The Empire Ballroom has just popped up on the strip and already had shows with LIT, Camp Freddy, Bad Religion and more. Look for some interesting shows coming up with Powerman 5000, Fishbone, Veruca Salt, Buckethead and best of all DOKKEN!

SicInside broke up awhile back.  Look for the majority of them in a new project dubbed Dreamscar.

Jillians will be the place for the intimate show of the year.  An acoustic Christmas show goes down in December.  Details coming soon.

Speaking of Xmas, Santa said he’s not coming this year.  You’ve been a retard and nobody likes you.

Smash feature band Transit is looking for a rhythm section.  Log on to www.transitband.com if you’ve got da riddims.

The Beauty Bar looks to be searching for Acoustic acts to take the stage on Wednesday nights.  To apply, just pass out in the alley behind the bar with your guitar case in hand.  Or maybe go in and talk to someone.

Speaking of passing out on Wednesdays, Plugged In is the new series at the Beach on Wednesday nights.  Shows start at 8pm, cheap drinks will have you passed out by 10.

Shave the children…Indie record store Balcony Lights has come dangerously close to closing up shop the past few weeks as they struggle to make rent.  Next time you’d like to buy a cd, think of the starving kids in need of a shave at Balcony Lights and kick down a few bucks for that sweet new dramarama record.
