The following was answered by a man on the road, a man on a mission, a man in desperate need of some decent food and maybe some condiments. This man is Chiodos front-man Craig Owens. Enjoy.
SM - I want to thank you guys for taking time to do this interview. How is the UK, anything exciting happen on the flight over?
CO - It was actually pretty serene, our bass player Matt freaked out a bit but he kept it in his head. Otherwise we ate bad airplane food, watched some dvds and looked at the weird stuff in the sky mall catalog.
SM - Have you guys ever been overseas as a band?
CO - Nope, first time.
SM - How was the 1st UK show ?
CO- It was pretty cool, there were tons of kids there to see Armor For Sleep and a handful that knew our songs so that was great to see somewhere we've never been before.
SM - How long has Chiodos been a band? How did it begin?
CO - About 3 years. A few of us went to high school together and had been writing for fun. So we decided to create the masterpiece that became Chiodos.
SM - What are you major influences as a band that gave you the sound you
guys have? You seem very diverse.
CO- We listen to a variety of everything from Queen to Saves The Day from Muse to Bob Dylan.
SM - How did the tour in the states go, I missed you guys here in Vegas. How
did that one go? Elaborate on your Vegas experience.
CO- Our recent us tours have been great, there seem to be lots and lots more kids coming out and especially when we play places we never have before the crowd seems to be that much more enthusiastic and we feed off of that. Vegas was pretty good. The venue was strange, I guess it’s normally an arcade so they gave us all game cards. Jason our guitarist and Brad the grizzly keyboardist developed what we call air hockey arm after about 20 games. We also got to go bowling upstairs and the guy running it let us all bowl in exchange for a t shirt. We were psyched. I guess we should have also seen some shows and done some gambling, but air hockey is addictive.
SM - How does it feel to have your debut out on EVR ?
CO- Awesome! They were one of our favorite labels with some of our favorite bands. Everyone that works there is great and really cares about music. We couldn't have a better home.
SM- How did you hook up with EVR ?
CO- One of their a+r guys came upon us online, liked some songs, came out to Michigan to see us play and the rest is history. He has actually become a very very close friend now and we really like that about EVR. They are very personal and not all about business.
SM- So what are your plans when you get back to the US?
CO- Taking a short break then we tour with Armor For Sleep and Boys Night Out followed by the Take Action Tour...then tour some more.
SM- MySpace ! Love it? Hate it? Picked up any chicks on it?
CO- It’s great to communicate with our fans and friends and promote to hopefully new fans and friends. Ummm…no comment.
SM- Thank you so much and good luck with the rest of your tour, anything you guys want to add?
CO- In England they have too many coins and not enough ketchup packets.
