SM: With getting the message
out, obviously the next step is to take action. What
are some of the things you can put out there for people
that want to get more involved and be more socially
conscious?
RA(T): Start by just informing yourself about what’s
going on. Read the paper, internet, check out Howard
Zen, Norm Chomsky, and ZNET, check out alternative media
stations, Punk Voter dot com, there’s all kinds of things
you can do. You don’t need to just start by going out
there and taking a stand. Inform yourself first on what
that stand is.
RA(J): Don’t go with it because your favorite band is
going with it or cause your friends are going with it.
RA(T): Go with it because is resonates with you. That’s
what’s important.
RA(J): Just get out there and arm yourself with knowledge.
This next election is important. So I want kids to be
aware and discover things. Don’t just vote because your
friends are voting for these things. We have a president
in the White House who isn’t supposed to be president.
So don’t let that happen again.
SM: There’s my final question. The upcoming year has
a lot in store for this band between the new label,
I’d assume a new record, the presidential election.
What are your thoughts on each one of those?
RA(J): It’s going to be a busy and exciting year. I
personally would like to see something that correlates
like the elections with our record.
SM: Do you think that could possibly be an undertone
for the record?
RA(T): It could be relevant.
RA(J): Yeah, definitely relevant. Again, Tim writes
all the lyrics. So I can’t sit down and write what he’s
feeling but yeah, I definitely think that if our record
were released before the elections there’d be something
about it in our record.
RA(T): We want to do more than just release our songs.
We want to release something that is relevant, it’s
important, and does something more than just release
our songs.
SM: It would be something that would be a full thought.
Almost a concept album but not necessarily.
RA(T): Yeah, exactly. That’s what we’re looking to do.
In ten years from now we want to look back and be like,
“yeah, I’m glad that we did that.” That’s what I want
to look back and say.
