For the last ten years I have
been on the streets of Las Vegas working behind the
scenes of our local music biz. Chances are, if you
have gotten a flyer for a concert, it has come from
me or someone on my team. While we are out and about,
we get to hear about a lot of cool stuff. This month,
my team and I have been asking you about the best
shows of the year. It has been great hearing all of
your feedback especially considering that I have been
working or something on the day of every single show
I wanted to see this year. Thank you for filling me
in! Here is what you had to say!
Ashleigh Gutierrez - Student CCSN
“I loved the Warped Tour! Story of the Year
was awesome! I was right up close in the front row!
I think I fell down like three times. The best part
was meeting Dan the lead singer at Taco Bell after
the show.”
Ken Hammond -McGuire Research
“The best show I saw this year was Extreme Thing!
My Chemical Romance and Atreyu were the highlights
for me. It was my first time seeing both of them.
I got to meet the bass player of My Chemical Romance
after the show. He is a really nice guy. We had a
long talk about ‘Mathrock’ “

”Without a doubt Hellfest!! This year the Trustkill
Records festival was placed in Elizabeth, New Jersey,
which is 5 minutes from my hometown if i might add.
It was three days of Hardcore/Metalcore bliss with
over 40 bands per day. Like the previous years before,
HellFest featured no barricade in front of the stage.
Fans have always been encouraged by the bands to share
the stage with them which makes for mayhem during
sing alongs. It wasn't out of the ordinary to see
15+ people on stage piled on top the singer. All the
while people were stage diving, head walking and literally
hundreds of kids were slam dancing. There were thousands
of people; all different cultures and ages together,
swinging fists and throwing kicks! It was intense!
I must say that As I Lay Dying owned HellFest!! If
you were there you know what I mean! But for all those
not able to make it, High Rollar Studios puts out
a DVD of the event every year. I can honestly say
that I can not wait until next year when time for
Hellfest rolls around again.”
Felipe “Barbie”
Castaneda - Student Academy of Hair Design
“The best show I saw this summer was a two day
festival called Face Down Fest in Pamona, California.
It featured bands that are on Face Down Records. I
got to see Come Back Kid for the first time. My friend
Morgan started a fight for no reason and it was the
best fight I have ever seen! We got lost on the way
there and the entire weekend was a blast!”
Jeremy Law - Shoestring
Street Team
I loved seeing Senses Fail at the Warped Tour! They
played all of their new songs!
Albert House - Hot Topic
I would probably say the HIM show with and Eighteen
Visions at the House of Blues. It was cool to see
HIM because they are from another country and they
never come here. And Eighteen Visions because I have
not seen them since Rebelpalooza 2003. I also have
to say the Shadows Fall show at the House of Blues
on August 9th was awesome! All the bands were great!
As I Lay Dying also played, and they stole the show.

The best show I saw this year was P.O.D. and Blindside
(at The Joint). I have been wanting to see Blindside
for a long time. Those Swedish guys rock! Even though
P.O.D. is Christian music, it still rocks! I also
really enjoyed the Warped Tour. There were so many
bands! I got a chance to hear a lot of new music from
bands I have never heard of. I really enjoyed the
Vandals. I had never seen them before. I saw a little
bit of Taking Back Sunday. I missed them at OBC last
year so it was cool to see them finally!
